Yeah, the same thing happened with the previous generation Civic in it's last year, 2000. A 5-year product cycle is stretching it a bit long for such a simple car as the Civic. Long cycles are more appropriate for more expensive, complex cars that actually cost something to develop. It's never made sense for the Civic to have a 5-year product cycle.
