Default Re: Civic Hybrid vs. Civic Standard

I bought my 2004 HCH in Jan 2004 when there were 4 others on the lot to choose from. I paid about $18,500 which is substantially less than they originally wanted.

When I first went to the dealer the salesman quoted $22,000.
At the time I could have picked up a similarly loaded EX for about $17,500.
I went to 3 other dealerships in the area and had about the same offer.

I spent some time researching other dealerships that are not in my area and got a quote for a new 2004 HCH for $18,300 but it was two states away.
I took the quote into the 1st dealer cuz I didn't want to drive that far (But would have). After a short amount of haggling they gave a final deal of $18,500 but won't include the TV.

TV??? What TV? (Imagine a puzzled owl-eyed look)
"The free big screen TV included with all new purchases"
I said something about the "free" aspect of it and took their deal.

This is the first time I've aggressively pursued a new car this way and I learned a lesson from it.

.

Efficient drivers do it better.
