Fair enough. I have not found that information anywhere on the Toyota website, despite reading articles (that could be wrong) that state the towing capacity.

There is only one thread in the TCH forums with "tow" or "towing" in the title. The discussion was so hot that it took 2 months to get 21 replies and the only person who said anything about the warranty was you.
If I were Toyota, I probably would not recommend it either, because the moment you say its okay, some dufus will try to tow their boat. I don't think the hybrid system would like hauling 1500 - 2000 lbs behind it. However, I do trust the design and engineering margins enough to feel that going 5 or 10% beyond the cars published ratings won't hurt it either.
So, for me it comes down to this: Will towing 300 balanced pounds hurt the car? I don't think so. It just becomes one of those things that no one will be able to prove or disprove until they do it.
