Default Re: Anyone paying less than MSRP for Camry Hybrids in 2007?

As you know, when you deal for a car you need to consider the trade, discounts, etc. Here is what I got in Syracuse NY a couple of weeks ago. You can take this or leave it as a baseline for advise.
MSRP according to window sticker: 30, 929.00
What the dealership charged for my starting price: 28, 734.00

I traded in a BEAUTIFUL diesel guzzling F250 4X4 with a KBB trade in value of 23,710. I got 25,000 for the trade in. I went to the dealership expecting to get 24,000; so I earned 1,000 plus what I saved on sales tax. So that would bring the car down to at least 27,734.00, but more realistically with taxes around 26,500. Oh yeah, Toyota Corp gave another 500 dollar discount while I was purchasing, so I paid approximatley 26,000 for a fully loaded TCH, minus factory alarm and remote start (who needs a remote starter on a hybrid?). NOTE: Keep in mind that the dealership is going to earn a couple thousand dollars on my trade, but that's not the point.

So you can use this scenario to calculate a deal in a number of ways. You can try to save the 2200 off of MSRP; You can try to save the 2200 and gain some on a trade (the key to that is you also save A LOT on sales tax); Or you can play the dealers hand, which is they are not making deals on hybrids.
The bottom line is dealers are cutting the prices on hybrids, but you have to go to the dealership prepared. Tell them that you studied the price, and show them you know the features of the car better than they do. Go to more than one dealership to get a quote (you can even do that online or on the phone). That's just my 2 cents. Good luck in your search for a car.
