Default Re: Pre-paid maintenance 15k service

I did some research on this very subject. The Toyota pre-paid maintenance plan only pays for the manufacturer's suggested maintenance. A lot of dealerships do more than is required by the manufacturer. One of my local dealers here in Virginia charges $90.00 for an oil change. They say the extra maintenance is recommended due to the environmental conditions here and they also put additives in the fuel and oil. I have to raise the BS flag on that one. Bottom line, if you tell the dealership to only do what is recommended by Toyota on the coupon they should do it and there should be no extra charge. If you want the extra services performed then you will have to pay for that. I decided not to go with the pre-paid maintenance plan for one reason. The 3yr/40,000 mile plan covers one major service at 30,000. The only problem is that the TCH does not require a tune-up, transmission service and coolant flush until 100,000 miles. These three items make up the bulk of what a normal car would require at 30,000 miles and cuts the cost of the 30,000 mile service in half. As far as I know the Toyota pre-paid maintenance plan cost the same for all vehicles regardless of what service is recommended for the TCH (which requires less).
