As slanted articles go, though, this one is not bad. I'd say the anti-hybrid bias is fairly minimal, since the overall point of the story is to laud the Prius in a somewhat atypical way. As for the larger point, the reliability of the car and its relatively few maintenance problems, I think it's fairly reflective of the experience most people here report with their Prii, anectdotally, anyway. Thanks for sharing!
One of the reasons I was not too worried about buying a used Prius is I knew the engine was never heavily stressed, 70 hp max versus 108 hp in our Echo. Also, the motors would be exceptionally smooth running without vibration and heat. These are the keys to long mechanical life.
