That is exactly what I ended up doing... that was the trip to Radio Shack.
It solved my problem by completely disconnecting the Bluetooth kit's Mute control from the Nav radio whenever power is off.
But you are right. It was poor design by the Bluetooth kit designers.

Well, the "Accessory Enable" is really simply switched 12v power, and that's the power that is maintained 'on' after the vehicle is turned 'off', and until the driver's door is opened. Lots of things are powered off of that, including the windows and the sun roof. I doubt that the adding the Bluetooth kit to it, will effect anything. Matter of fact, I actually "tapped" into it, at the sun roof fuse since I don't have a sun roof. I figured that there was a circuit designed to supply up to 20 amps, but wasn't being used.
As I mentioned, the real oddity is that apparently grounding the Mute input on the Nav radio not only enables the Phone audio inputs, but also will force the Nav radio 'on' even if the vehicle is 'off' (key removed from ignition, driver's door opened, etc). I never expected that to happen.
