Your friend is pretty close to my beliefs:
- God is
- Afterlife, something to worry about after life
The merit in living a good life is in the good we do with and for others, the degree to which we serve those around us. Whether there is something after we die is unimportant. But the 'house keeping' of some of the after life probabilities are impossible to keep up with.
If there is an after life, what ever it is, I'll deal with then. If not, no harm done. For now, I have a 'this life' and that is where my efforts are focused.
