Well, two reasons why I put 8 oil filters and 7,500 mile changes:

1) As gumby said, Oil life % can differ from car to car depending on driving conditions/style. I know we could go 10K miles on the hybrid (especially with Mobil1 0W-20), but I will probably stick with 7500 miles. This way I can have a standard schedule which will run evenly into the 15K, 30K, etc services that need to be done. Even at 7500 miles, it's 2½ times farther than my previous car, saving me $$ on oil changes!

2) Buying 8 oil filters put it over $125.00 so you can get the 15% discount

I also like the fact that the oil filter for the HCH is the same model as my Honda Pilot, so I can buy more of one filter and not have to worry about not using them (or getting them confused on my garage shelf).
