I've had a Google news search term set on "CNW Marketing" for a year and a half now and that has led to my understanding.

Art had claimed: (1) formerly built his own electric vehicle, and (2) worked for Ward's automotive for 10 years as a reporter. But it appears his primary source of information is to call local car dealers and survey them. There is little evidence of any sort of direct customer survey like JD Powers and Consumer Reports. So his survey data is colored by the bias of local car dealerships. I've found them to be unusually ill-informed.

Now looking at some of CNW's other claims, I get the impression that anyone who does something he dislikes is doing it "for style." Thus he dismisses customer behavior without having to deal with real facts and data. As for his hack job, "Dust-to-Dust," it suggests he knows how to abuse a spreadsheet . . . no matter how crudely. He also has a bad concept of an academic paper.

I see his company making money by royalties from references to his articles. Those who most like to cite him seem to have an ax to grind and use CNW Marketing to give the illusion of fact checking.
