I don't know why a hybrid Corolla would "kill" the Prius, they are hardly the same size (though you can pretty much figure it is getting compared to it once a minute or so. :-)). I know it isn't as small as it used to be (it seems to have grown a few feet, it is still a compact.
The Yaris would continue to be quite a lot cheaper, and I think the Camry is still quite a lot larger-- and considered a bit more upscale, imo ($18,000 for a very stripped down one vs. $12,000 or so for the Yaris. The Corolla is kind of in between-- maybe inhabits the spot the Corona used to be in.
Not sure if they have intentions that way, because they keep putting it in bigger cars.
