This is quite interesting. I have done the trick of removing the speed pulse wire in the past, but as noted a lot of the newer Nav's figure this out after a few seconds and disable the functions anyway.

Sending a pulse every so often, enough so it thinks it's getting something, but not often enough to think it's moving fast enough to disable is quite inventive.
