My father had a early 70's Chebbi Impala, he put over 300,000 miles on it before the body fell apart but engine still good. he changed oil and filter every 5,000 miles and used cheap 49 cent a qt oil like Havoline and Penzoil, Quaker State ect, anything he could find cheap. He also lived where they had real winter -60 degrees, this is not rocket science as poor as the oil was then compared to today I would not hesitate to run 5-10K changes. And as far as brands or synthetic I will not go there as it always ends in a pi$$ing match.
