Here is my situation:
-bought my car in April 2006
-one year later (April 2007) my Oil Life was to 50%, but I had the oil changed as recommended in the owner's manual; I then reset the maintenance minder
-I've yet to have any maintenance codes appear

So, after reading Dan's suggestion about checking the next recommended service, I gave it a try and a B1 code appeared during the "test". To me that suggests (or perhaps proves) that resetting the MM also resets any maintenance codes, regardless of whether they are currently appearing, or are in the "background" waiting to appear. My reasoning behind this is that I should have seen an A1 code at some point, but it must have been cleared out when I reset the MM in April 2007.

Knowing that a B1 is the service that is due next is helpful, but I have no way of knowing when the service needs to be done. Or should I just have the service done the next time I take my car in for an oil change?

I find it hard to believe that Honda simply "forgot" to account for this situation (ie people who don't drive a lot), when they designed the MM. Perhaps they wanted to keep the MM as simple as possible, and felt that complicating the system to benefit a small percentage of drivers wasn't worth it...
