Having towed some longer trailers around (no, I know it's not near as big as a semi), I appreciate it when other drivers signal me, or make room when I have to move over.

that's how I do it too. I turn off the lights at night, and flash them during the day. I know I'm appreciative when i tow my trailer when a car signals it's ok to come over.
