I believe you are correct about the mileage. I finally had time to surf through some of the press reports from the DC show, and the Ford reps were quoted as saying there would be little or no impact on MPG ratings for the hybrid; That the 1 MPG were only for gas versions.

Regardless, it appears that it boils down to a few extra HP (say 145 or so in the hybrid vs. 133 for the 2.3) and the same or better mileage. Nice little improvement.
