- I had the same problem with my first Civic Hybrid and had the same response from the dealer. They read the computer and said it was due to a misfire in one case and the same as yours in another. While I never conclusively prooved it, I am pretty sure it was related to the gasket on the gas cap and not getting a complete seal. There was a relationship between filling the tank and the light coming on. I also had a suspicion that it may have been after I filled up at a certain station. The light came on and went off for a period of a few weeks, but then finally went off and stayed off. Cleaning the gas cap gasket and filler tube seemed to help - but again I never 100% prooved anything. The problem just finally went away. I do know that an overfilled gas tank resulting gas getting into the evaporative system is supposed to cause the problem.
