I ALWAYS drive for better gas mileage. In climbing hills I get as much momentum as possible and then try to maintain decent miles per hour. I am not one to hold anyone up, but I also don't mind going the speed limit in the slow lane. It also matters the hills. I have only gone to the hills a couple of times. Twice to Jackson averaging around 50 miles per hour(slow curvey roads), and twice to Reno averaging about 65mph (freeway). The way I have been doing it is always using the IMA to keep speed. By that I mean using the IMA then backing off until i need the IMA again. In traveling to Reno from Sacramento, with three stops in traffic, my HCH averaged aprox. 43MPG. In traveling from Reno to Sac. the average was over 62mpg. This is never going more than 5mpg under the speed limit going over the summit.
