If it were only gas, that would be fine. But gas/diesel prices affect EVERYTHING. That's why we had 7% inflation last year, and so far this year we're running at 12% inflation.
The price of everything is getting out of control, and Congress hasn't raised the minimum wage in 12 years. So it's not a consumer-driven inflation. It's on the producer side, all the result of transport costs of raw materials to the factories and finished products to the retailers.
Even people who don't own cars and never travel still pay for higher oil prices.
