Recent Posts is like New Posts, with some important differences. They actually apperar as New / Recent Posts.

Problem with New Posts is once you have clicked on the unread posts, no posts will appear when you click New Posts.

Recent Posts will list posts made in the last 24 hours. Clicking to read a post will not exclude that post from Recent Posts.
