CDN_TSB2397 - CD Skip Verification Using Toyota Master CD
A specially-made CD containing deliberate defects, to test whether the defect-tracking ability of a CD player meets specifications. The black surface dots in tracks 2 & 3 simulate different sizes of "dirt" specks on the surface. The "scratch" (in tracks 7 - 10) is in the aluminized data layer, and simulates obliterated data dropouts of varying lengths. The simulated "fingerprints" in tracks 13 & 15 test tracking ability in the presence of greasy residue on the readout surface. A good CD player will also play tracks 10 & 15, but these are especially severe tests, beyond the normal player specification. Philips produced a similar test CD at the very beginning of the CD era (1982) — our lab got our copy in 1983. This test disc will not test for player issues other than tracking/skipping problems.
