I'll say that the cold has a significant effect, but I changed tires (twice) and it had a HUGE effect on mileage...

1st I tried some great BF Goodrich tires, they handled great but my milage went from 49.5 avg to 35.7 avg. I swear I tried to drive right, but it was like driving with a parachute attached.

2nd I have bought Yokohama's and they are better, but I've still dropped to a 40-41mpg average.... It's improving a bit over the 9k miles I drove this month, but it's not as good as the Dunlops. When you replace, get teh Dunlops!!!!!!

I'm going to replace these (new) tires this fall to get my mileage back. It costs me around 80-120 miles a tank.

FWIW- I drive 8,000-10,000 miles a month. My Civic was wrecked once, but I've had no issues. My only issue (my fault) was that I broke the interior light intensity switch by hitting it with my knee. Otherwise it's been a lifesaver!
