Default Re: Why are so many clueless regarding hybrids?

I'm getting 670-730 mile tanks, over 60MPG. My average last winter was about 58MPG.

I paid about $1,000 over the price of a comparatively loaded Civic EX.
I was concerned price might reach $2 over the life of the car. (My 1st gas receipt is $1.24/g)
Quite a bit of savings there.
An aquaintence co worker overheard me talking to another fellow reporting my +60MPG tanks. He shockingly commented that hybrids only have advantage in stop/go city driving, and here I am commuting 50 miles to work on the freeway. He was completely dumb-founded.

But what truly amazes me is the number of drivers who don't realize the fuel savings they could have, if only they were willing to learn more efficient driving with only minor modifications to their current habits. Many regular gasser drivers could beat the pants off a careless hybrid regading efficiency. I definetly see a slow-down in general traffic. That's a start.
