Hi Clubford00:
___Since you and I commute on the same Interstates (I-94/I-294/I-90/I-290/I-55/I-355/I-88) here in IL., try this one on your morning and afternoon commute tomorrow. Get into the right hand lane and set your cruise not at 75 like you mentioned
everyone is traveling but at a much lower 63
mph. I can guarantee you will have hit your brakes at least once every ½ mile for as long as you drive because most 18-wheeler’s do not travel over that limit in the right hand lane. You are spreading a perpetual myth and it is costing you a huge amount in terms of your FE today as well as tomorrow. If you prefer to travel in the left lanes at 70 +, by all means but you aren’t doing that in the right lanes or you would have been scraped off the under-ride guard of ~ 75% of the 18-wheelers traveling through the Chicago area.
___In regards to the thread, 45 - 55 posted speeds, 50 and above is good. In the 45 - 65 posted speeds w/ truck limits at 55 posted speeds, 58 is good imho. In the Accord, a little faster. In the Ranger and Corolla, a little slower but always in the right hand lanes.
___Good Luck
