Default Re: Aftermarket warrantee

I had an after market warranty for my Audi A4. I shopped it on the Internet, and checked out the company with my state insurance bureau. I paid about $1200 for 7 year 100K mile bumper to bumper. However, when it came time for some claims, it was like pulling teeth from an aligator. I was successful in making claims totaling over $3000, so it was quite worth while.

I suggest you be careful in selecting a 3rd party company however, especially with how they deal with the claims. My Audi dealer did not like dealing with this company, because they refused to pay for some safety repairs - claiming the existing parts were still OK, even though it was obvious they would need replacing on the next service, which they were and a new claim paid for it.

It turned out that after I bought the warranty insurance the company was banned in California, but since I had it, they had to honor it.

Now I have the Toyota extended warranty for my Prius. i purchased it from Toyota dealer (not the one I bought the car from), at a much lower price. In fact I purchased the 4yr/55K service package and the 7yr/100K warranty for the price of the warranty package my dealer was quoting.

Cheers, Doug
