They also failed to mention that the EPA numbers for non-hybrids are (percent-wise) just as misleading, but people don't know because there's no MPG meter to show them. When you take that into consideration, then the advantage of the hybrid is evident again, but if you just take EPA for non-hybrids and then compare that to "real world" numbers for hybrids you'll be dissappointed, and misinformed.
It's typical garbage journalism that gets the big 'ol corporate rubber stamp of approval. FUD - Fear Uncertainty and Distrust.
