1. On a non-hybrid, I do wonder about the safety of engine off operation. As soon as the vacuum booster is exhausted, the brakes are terribly heavy. Same general argument for steering.
2. I have never seen any comment on the misleading effect of low MPG readings while accelerating. Certainly the energy that goes into the kinteic energy of the car is not a loss and should be counted as a plus or addition to the MPG. Needs a statement of the car weight or mass, and a correlation of fuel use and kinetic energy. Perhaps it is just good enough knowing that low MPG readings while accelerating are inaccurate. Some Insight drivers realize that getting up to speed in a hurry is best. An ICE is not too efficient at light throttle.
