I've owned 27 cars since I was 16 years old, 6 of the recent ones are new. In every case I've maintained the max tire cold pressure rating. That's more than 108 tires and have had zero issues.
Most everything we purchase has a margin of safety built in.
Quick example is
If you purchase a lamp it may suggest a 50w bulb but not to exceed 75W. If you install a 75W bulb you are still within the safety rating.
Personally I run the upper end of the tire MFG max pressure rating which gains around 20 MPG.
Efficient drivers do it better.
