You are correct on your understanding of BAS technology. Because the electric motor is basically the alternator on steroids, there is capability to assist the ICE in propelling the vehicle, but no intent to propel the vehicle without the ICE operating. Except for decel ICE cutoff, there is not a slow speed EV mode with this 36V (or 42V, depending on how you measure it) BAS system.
