90 and 92 mpg!
#1
Well this tank of gas is going to be a good one. In the past few days I've had some 90 and 92 mpg runs on my 60 mile commute.
This tank is at ~77-78 mpg and will certainly make up for driving too fast with the A/C on during the last tank of gas!
I'm at 690 miles and still have 2 bars left on the gas gauge.
I have left my "hot air mod" in place, even though the weather has been in the 70's and 80's at times. It doesn't seem to be holding back the mileage at all.
I've been watching the database and hoping that a few more Insight owners would post their tanks so I could see how they are currently doing.

Hi EricBecky:
___Your are truly knocking on the door of the magic 100 mpg mark! A nice tail wind and you will be taking pics of the dash and all that crazy stuff Congrats on nailing down the (2) 90 + mile segments. With 2 bars left, I have traveled over 173 miles if that helps gauge your possible maximum in case you were shooting for a particular target range. With the low fuel light just lit, you should have ~ 100 miles left but leave a little margin in case you aren’t receiving the fuel economy you would have liked over that last 100 miles and you run her dry out on a lonely desolate road just 3 miles from the next gas station
___Good Luck

Wayne,
I still do not own a digital camera, so last week when I reach 90mpg I had my family come out to the car and verify my claim.
I figure if I’m really getting 77 mpg, I should be able to reach 770 miles. I’d love to reach 780 or 790. I’m guessing I will not be able to reach 800. But, man it’s temptingly close!
There are no gas stations along the first/last 12 miles of my daily commute, so depending on where I end up, running out of gas could be a real problem.
I could put a container of gasoline in the trunk “just in case”, but the temps here are in the 80’s. It seems like a bad idea.
I can just see the headline now…
“Hypermiler’s car ignites while trying to attain 800 miles on a tank of gas”
