While the materials used in the Civic, may not be on par with the Accord's keep in mind that it is a smaller, less expensive automobile. I think the interior is beautiful and far better than most car's in its class, as well as most cars in the Accord's class. Perhaps you are spoiled by being too used to driving Honda's.  I don't think it is fair to say that the Civic's build quality isn't up to par with the Accords, based on your first impression of the interior. Last I checked the Accord EX V6 that you drive was about 10 grand more expensive than the Civic EX.
