Much as I hate DC traffic, it beats the tar out of LI roads- although the survival techniques I learned up there serve me well. Not much can be done about it- some of the oldest roads and highways in the nation are on LI- lots of ancient low-speed cloverleafs with no acceleration zones. And lots of development preventing redesign.

At least the LIRR is good (was, in the 80s, at least) and goes everywhere.
