80 MPG was right!

This is about a 'soft' as I can go. Al Gore's "high mileage" program was defunded to pay for the hydrogen program. The goal of that program was a US car capable of '80 MPG' and had proposals from all three US manufacturers. I was particularly intriged by GM's hydrolic nitrogen tank solution. But after the 2001 election, a program that could have given US car companies a chance was replaced by the 'hydrogen' program.

Another day, we might discuss what is wrong with the hydrogen program but not today and not in this thread. Send me e-mail if you are curious about why the hydrogen technology is so wrong.
