Yeah that came out like 2 weeks after he was shot. It wasn't official at the time but everyone knew from the wording of the information released that's what happened. A pretty sizable percentage of war casualties are from friendly fire. I fully respect the guy for signing up for the Army at a time when everyone knew that if you did so, you would be deployed to a region where our soldiers were getting killed every day. He knew this and chose to sign up anyway. Everyone makes choices and we live and die by them. Heck, we all die anyway.
