Unlike krousdb, I think that it's not a disturbing thing that there's been some disproportionate media attention on what happened to Pat Tillman. Certainly his death isn't more tragic than the deaths of other young men and women in this war, but it is at least representative of some of them. I think a lot of those poor people aren't getting much media attention, sympathy, support for their families, etc., and if telling the story of Pat Tillman reminds people that these sacrifices are being made, that's something of a good thing. Maybe my political bias is showing, but it seems to me that there are a lot of people who go around saying we're doing so well in this war and who would rather that we didn't mention the people like Pat Tillman who are paying so dearly for it. And I'm not unpatriotic, and I do support the troops- I support them so much that I wish they were all back home, safe, instead of dead, wounded, or in danger. This death, like so many others, is a tragedy, whether he was killed accidentally or by the enemy, and there are more like it every day. We shouldn't forget about them.
