Something about the Motor Trend article I noticed:

If this were true and the cylinder head is sealed but the piston is still working,

I'd venture a guess that at least one valve is open to vent the dead cylinder?

Does anyone here have the HCH service manual?
Perhaps it may shed some light on the subject.
