___The 1.3 L iDSI HCH ICE w/ even taller gearing in an Insight would probably be a better choice for most then the smallish 1.0 L in them now. We would all lose the ability to achieve 100 + mpg’s of course but most don’t get that anyway. What we would receive in the process is maybe 55 - 60 EPA estimates with a 75 - 80 hypermiler average with that much more power on tap when needed. The frontal area of an Insight as well as its much lighter weight and lower Cd would let that iDSI run like the wind imho.

___The best of both worlds however would be a smallish Honda in-house designed 1.0 - 1.3 L iCDTi in a lower Cd based Civic. Up the amenities (leather, heated - power seats, sun roof, NAV) at ~ the same cost of todays HCH’s and I would consider one myself. The 04 Accord EX-L w/ NAVI’s are available for $22,500 so why not a Civic EX-L w/ NAVI trim w/ the 1.3 L iCDTi for ~ $19,500?
