And it is an enormously important debate. USA is now one of few countries that has not signed the Kyoto protocol, due to it's heavy dependence on oil. You can hate me for saying this (being a non-american), but I think it is a disgrace.

The above is definetely enough for me to believe it. But I'd say that even slightest chance that global warming is caused by us is enough for us to react. The possible effects of global warming is so severe that it is hard to believe.
