It's cheaper (strictly money-wise) to buy used. Like a Corolla or Civic. Lower purchase price, but lower MPG. Lots of gas can be had with the lower purchase price.

The Prius is MORE than just about saving money...use less, pollute less. To do the right thing seems to cost more.
