Thanks for the replies, guys. Sounds like it'll be around $3K per hit to replace the battery pack. Since I drive around 30K a year, and usually keep my vehicles until they won't run anymore, I'd fully expect to end up buying at least one, if not more. I hope, as has been mentioned, that the price is likely to come down as hybrids increasingly gain traction in the marketplace.
Arch, thanks for corrrecting my misunderstanding about the type of batteries which are used.
