1. There's a thread on the subject after extensive tests, the Nav econ was found to be more accurate then by hand calculating, mostly due to differential fills. (You don't always put the same amount in that you used.) If you do a search, you can find the thread.

2. Not sure I understand the question.

3. The MTE, or Miles to Empty display is calculated on your FE by 13.7 (Or some similar number) gallons of gas. A few people have calculated that, and I'm sure they'll probably chime in. That way, when you hit empty, you still have some fuel left.
