yes, you can do this. while on the map screen, push the "setup" button on the right. then select the display clock option. after the clock comes on, there is a button on the screen to shut off the display. the nav system will continue to work, giving you audio directions but the screen will be off.
alternately, you can say while on the map screen:
"setup"
"display clock"
"diskplay off"
