Sorry, but being cynical I consider most of the 'add-ons' to be mainly sold to boost dealer profit, whether it's paint protectant, fabric protectant, undercoating, rustproofing, etc. In fact, on cars sold below MSRP it would not surprise me if they made more on the add-ons than the car itself. It doesn't mean that it is not useful, just overpriced.

Some items could be useful. I know from owning a furniture store that fabric protection does make stains much easier to clean. In fact I'm thinking of fabri-coating the car seats. Other items, such as paint protectant, I don't think helps, but I don't think hurts. And others, such as rust-proofing actually caused cars to rust out sooner due to plugging of weep holes used to drain water.
