Verizon Wireless and my Camry don't like each other
Ok, so I love my Camry, and like many others on this forum and in the market for a new phone to support the handsfree features in the car. Yesterday I upgraded my phone to a Motorola Razr. It links easily, sounds great, but there are definitely some issues:
1. Verizon Wireless is Evil - They disable the bluetooth OBEX exchange features in their phones, so you cannot transfer your directory to the Camry's directory. Aaarrgghhhh. I've looked for phone mods to fix this, but don't feel changing the phone's firmware to Alltel's a viable solution. If anyone finds a solution to this, please post.
2. Ok, so it's a pain to put my phone book in the car, so can I use the phones voice recognition dialing handsfree? Not that I can figure out. There appears to be no way to talk to the phone via the car's "headset" to do voice dialing. The car want's to dial from it's book. I can hit the button on the phone that allows me to voice dial, but the phone isn't listening to the phone or the car, so anything I say get's ignored. There is some incompatibility going on here.
Hmmm, the combination of Verizon and the Camry is less than ideal.
I'm going to try an LG 8300 next to see if that works any better.
I've read all the bluetooth threads and other phone related threads on this site. Has anyone figured any of this out yet for Verizon?
