I guess your route will take you through Nashville and Chattanooga. If so then Monteagle will make a dent in your mileage. It is a pretty nast climb, but after you come down it is as level as it gets around here.

For the trip back Chattanooga may be a good place to stay. In downtown there are a couple of Marriott type hotels, a Staybridge, a Hilton and the Chattanoogan is a nice, but expensive place. There are some smaller chains also very near the interstate.
