HCH I, has side airbags and fronts (driver & passenger)... but for 2003 at least you had to order the side airbag version of the car. I believe 2004+ it became standard? The side airbags will give you protection from the side including your head but not to the same level as combining the side airbag (deployed from your seat) and a curtain airbag with deploys from the A pillar and covers the entire side windows.
