2006 Tax Reduction? - GreenHybrid

Hi Folks,

Is there anything special I need to do to ensure that I will be able to take my tax deduction on next years taxes? I bought my Prius on March 6th so I cannot do anything on the taxes I am having written up right now but I want to ensure that I have what I need for next years.

Brian,

You need the Toyota form that documents the tax deductable staus of your Prius. I downloaded it in 2004 and attached it to my return. There was also a place to ask for the deduction, but it wasn't obvious on the 1040.

Note that you will have to make certain that you are not caught by the AMT (Alternative Minimum Tax) or the deduction will not have any affect on your taxes.
