I'm wanting to buy my first Prius, and it will be a gently used 2005, 06, 0r 07.

But what battery issues am I in for?
Have I heard they have a 10 year warranty?

Any comments appreciated.

 

The factory warranty on batteries will be for 8 years, 100,000 miles or 10 years, 150,000 miles depending on the state you are in (CARB state). Toyota has had VERY few issues with their batteries (unlike Honda...) and anything concerning them would be the least of my worries. In fact, a Prius has VERY few issues at all. Buy it, drive it and enjoy it.

 

Bought my 06 in 2009 (apparently off lease). Drove many miles (now at 190K) and just had to get a rebuilt traction battery in January. Of course your experience may differ. But I think the battery is not a big issue to worry about.
