Default Laptop

This Saturday, I haveta make a 19 hour roundtrip from CO to OK. I plan to bring my laptop to do some homework and watch a couple dvd movies. I plan to plug it in the the electric socket.

Is there anything I need to know about doing this?

TIA

You mean as far as drawing power from the outlet? Nothing that I know of. Works like any other car

The Prius does shut off the 12v sockets when the car is not in ready or Ig-on mode. So, don't expect power to come from the vehicle when it is not running, however when running you should have plenty of 12v power. I've read that when the vehicle is in Ready mode that the output from the sockets is closer to 14v. That shouldn't have any negative effect on your 12v devices. However if you have the mod from Costal which forces that dash 12v to be on all the time the output when the vehicle is not in Ready is closer to 11v.

Or you can get an easy fix from Coastal which, when installed keeps the forward lighter socket on all the time. Coastal http://www.coastaletech.com/04prius.htm

You can also get an accessory adapter with battery clips you can hook directly to your battery for any always on outlet in your cargo area. I got one for $3 at Pep Boys, make sure to use with fused devices only (the adapter I bought didn't have a fuse).
