As far as I know, there is only the one style and it requires drilling. But it's not sheet metal. It's where the cover of the rear bumper -- not sure if it's plastic or some other non-metallic material -- wraps around the side and tucks under the back edge of the wheel well.

Regardless of the material, it's easy to drill. The bigger hassle was removing the wheel.

It felt to me like I was drilling into metal for the back mudguards.

But I agree, it's easy once the wheel is off. If you've changed a tire and used a drill, no big deal.

On the rear ones...again you have to drill into the metal lip of that quarter panel for at least two screws. All of those that say you only had to drill into the plastic, maybe if you provided pictures to show this because I don't see how you get around drilling into the metal. I'm not disputing how easy it is, just where you have to drill.

Well I just made an interesting find. I incorrectly assumed the painted rear quarter panel was made of metal. Now I see what you all were talking about, it is made of plastic. Even though there is no drilling into metal, you still have to drill into a panel that is painted the color of the car. Once you do this there is no going back and removing the splash guards is not an option unless you want to see holes.

If you decide after installation that you don't like them, you can always put the screws back in without the mud guards. Not perfect, but better than holes. If your car's black no one will ever notice. If it's some other color, you can paint them with matching touchup paint.
